Welcome to GutFertilizer

Where GAPS Diet coaching nurtures and optimizes your gut microbiome—a scientifically-backed nutritional program crafted to enhance gut health and its profound impact on overall well-being.
'Just as the roots are essential for the health of a tree, our digestive system forms the roots and foundation of our well-being. If these roots are not healthy, then the rest of the body cannot be healthy.'
Natasha Campbell-McBride MD MMedSci (neurology), MMedSci (nutrition)

We are in the middle of a biomedical revolution. It is the food you eat that affects the microbiome that affects your brain. What if depression, anxiety, allergies, autoimmune diseases, chronic conditions, and various health issues all shared a common origin?
We recognize the importance of ongoing research and the growing understanding of the gut’s critical role in overall health.
I call gut-healthy foods 'gut fertilizers' because they nourish and support gut health and the microbiome, essential for overall well-being, much like watering and fertilizing a garden. Just as roots are vital for a tree, a healthy digestive system is foundational: without it, the body suffers.
The main types of 'fertilizer' include the 5 “F’s”: fauna (animal food), animal fat, fiber, phenols 'plant chemicals' a group of naturally occurring compounds found in plants that contribute to their color, flavor, and health benefits, and fermented food.

What does GAPS mean?

The term GAPS stands for Gut and Psychology Syndrome and Gut and Physiology Syndrome.
The gut is considered the cornerstone of overall health due to its roles in digestion, nutrient absorption, immune function, microbiome balance, neurological communication, metabolic regulation, and detoxification processes.
Many in the medical field regard neurosurgeons as astronauts of neuroscience, exploring uncharted territories of the brain. They discover novel aspects of brain function by directly probing, cutting, and stimulating brain tissue, observing how these changes affect cognition, behavior, and speech.

What is the GAPS Diet?

The GAPS (Gut and Psychology Syndrome) Diet, developed by Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride diet focuses on restoring gut health to enhance the body's self-healing abilities by eliminating harmful foods and incorporating nutrient-dense, easily digestible ones. This approach aims to heal the gut lining, balance the gut microbiome, and support the immune system, addressing a range of physical and mental health issues.

The diet leverages the body's inherent capacity for healing by providing the right nutrients and creating a conducive environment for recovery.
Improved gut health supports the immune system and enhances physical and mental self-repair.
